Online voting (Election Day)

How do I create an election?

Log in to the reserved area and choose New election. Start from a template (blank, board, class representatives, auditors, resolution, condominium) and complete a single step-by-step page: election details, candidates or options, voters, invitation text, final check and sending. The checklist turns green when the election is ready.

How do I add candidates and voters?

You can type them in or import them from a CSV file with the columns name, surname, email: the election page has a sample file to download. Every value can be corrected by clicking the cell and is saved when you leave the field.

Is the vote really secret?

Yes. With the blind signature the server authorises the ballot without seeing it and receives it in a second, anonymous request: the database holds nothing that links a voter to their ballot, not even for those running the system. The organiser sees who voted, never what. See the Ballot security page for details.

What can I change after the start?

Until you send the invitations you can change everything. During voting you can only add voters, move the closing date later and correct title, description and email text. Once voting is closed nothing can be changed, so the results stay as voted.

When can I delete an election?

Before it starts or from 7 days after it closes (in those days results and receipts can still be checked). Deleting permanently removes candidates, voters and ballot box: if you need to repeat it, duplicate it first.

Invitations, reminders and voting

How are invitations sent?

With the send button on the election page. Emails go out at a steady pace, a few at a time, so the mail provider does not block them as spam: a window shows the progress and you can stop and resume at any time. Only voters who have not had the invitation yet receive it.

How do I know whether a voter got the invitation?

Each voter shows a status: to be sent, sent, email opened, link opened, voted. Email opening is visible only if the mail program downloads images; link opening and voting are always recorded. You will never see what they voted.

Can I remind those who have not voted?

Yes: in the Progress section, while voting is open, the Reminder box emails only the invited voters who have not voted. At most one reminder every 12 hours.

How does voting work?

The voter opens the personal link received by email, from the opening date onwards. They choose candidates up to the number of preferences allowed, confirm and get a receipt code on screen. The link is valid for one vote only.

Results, receipt and report

When are results visible?

Only once voting is closed, on the results page: turnout, ranking and integrity check. The organiser also receives a summary email. With at least 5 ballots the anonymous ballot box is published and anyone can recount it.

What is the receipt code for?

It lets the voter check that their ballot is in the box and was counted. With reinforced secrecy (the default) the check does not show the choices, so the vote cannot be proven to anyone. With verifiable voting, if the organiser chooses it, it also shows the choices: in that case keep the code to yourself.

How do I get the counting report?

Once voting is closed you download the PDF report from the election page or the list: details, turnout, results, integrity check and ballot box fingerprint, with space for signatures. It never contains the list of voters or individual ballots.

Plans, licences and payments

How much does it cost?

Elections are free up to 30 voters and 10 candidates, with 3 elections a month and a maximum length of 14 days. For a larger election you can unlock just that one (up to 100, 300 or 1000 voters) or choose a licence: everything is on the Pricing page. Payment is by PayPal.

Is the licence renewed automatically?

No: to renew, simply make the payment again.

Can I withdraw?

Yes, within 30 days of purchase and, for online elections, only until before the emails are sent to voters, by writing to info@metisitalia.it. The refund is made with the same payment method within 14 days. Details are in the Terms and Conditions.

Free polls: Find a date and Poll

What is the difference between Find a date and Poll?

Find a date is for picking a day: you suggest dates and everyone answers yes, if need be or no; the best date is highlighted and you can download the calendar file. Poll is a survey with your own options, images included, and a maximum number of choices each. Both are free, with themes and emoticons.

Do I need to sign up?

No, neither to create nor to answer. When you create one you get two links: one for participants and a management link to keep to yourself. If you are logged in the poll is linked to your account and you find it in the Overview of your reserved area.

Can I change the poll after creating it?

Yes, from the management link. The style (theme and sticker) can always be changed. In a Poll title, description, options and number of choices can be changed until someone votes, then they are locked so as not to distort the votes. In Find a date you can add or remove dates: removing a date deletes the answers for it.

Are the answers secret?

No: in free polls all participants see names and choices. For elections and confidential resolutions use online secret voting.

How long are polls kept?

Find a date is deleted automatically 90 days after the last proposed date; Polls 12 months after they close. Whoever has the management link can delete them earlier.

Meetings: quorum and minutes

How do I calculate quorum and majorities?

Use the free Quorum and majorities calculator in the Services menu: choose condominium, association, limited company or custom, first or second call, and enter totals and attendees. You see at once whether the meeting is valid and how many votes in favour each type of resolution needs. The rules are those of the Italian civil code: articles or rules may set different ones.

How do I prepare the minutes of the meeting?

With the free Meeting minutes generator: enter body, date and place, attendees with thousandths or shares and proxies, then the agenda items with the discussion and everyone's vote. Quorum and outcomes are calculated automatically and you download the PDF to sign. The draft stays only on your device and we do not store the data on the server.

My articles set different majorities: can I still use them?

Yes: choose Custom and enter the minimum attendance at first and second call and the majority of votes in favour required by your articles. The tools are indicative anyway: if in doubt ask a professional.

The meeting needs a secret ballot: how?

Create an online election with blind signature: everyone entitled gets their own link, the vote stays secret and results are verifiable. It is free up to 30 voters; then report the outcome in the minutes.
